(More customer reviews)I love O'lipfa rulers! This ruler's unique feature is an lip along one of the edges. This lip can be used to alight the ruler in a perfectly perpendicular alignment, which gives you results every time - quick and easy! The use the triagle rules in combination with lined cutting mat. I align the fabric on the fabric mat so it alinged along the lines on the mat and then use the edge of the mat to hook the lip of the ruler. Perfect plumb lines every times, makes it easy to make perfect and equal triangles every time.
If you don't want to use the lip, you can use the ruler in a regular way. If the fabric is on the fabric mat, the lip does not lift the ruler enough to interfere with regular cutting.
The 18'x5' ruler was the first O'lipfa ruler I bought, I liked it so much that I added a few more to my collection for other tasks. I highly recommend this product.

June Tailor Rule Your Rulers Review

(More customer reviews)Each quilter or seamstress has her own individual storage needs. This includes the need for a safe and efficient way to store those expensive plexiglass rulers. So no one method will be good for everyone. But I really like this June Tailor ruler organizer. Each ring is strong enough to hold quite a few rulers. I have a lot of rulers, so I put the 1 1/2 through 16 1/2 inch square rulers on one ring, the yard long rulers on another, the triangular shaped rulers on a third, etc. I am going to drill a hole in the little end pieces that go with my bigger wedge rulers so I can store all the parts on the same ring without fear of losing the little pieces. No more reaching over and not being able to find what I want on all those wooden grooved ruler stands. While sewing, I put the rulers I am going to use on a ring and hang it off the end of my sewing table so ther rulers are at my finger tips. These rings are also inexpensive enough that if you buy them and find they don't suit your needs, you are not out a fortune. You can give them to a friend or hang belts or purses on them.

Dritz(R) Lifetime Tape Measure - 5/8''x60'' White Review

(More customer reviews)How do you review a tape measure? Why would you want to? Well, I'm the first review! The fortune of the entire company turns on what I say! The stock market waits with bated breath on my pronouncements...

And it seems sad that there's nothing in that section.

I ordered this product for body measurement - how big is my bicep, how fat is my belly, etc. I have no qualification to discuss how well this works if you're a tailor or seamstress, so I won't.

I checked the accuracy of the tape against several other measuring devices at home: two high-end rules (the three-sided engineering and architectural type, not the 2nd grade type), a carpenter's square, and a retractable tape measure. All agreed within a few smidgin's (a smidgin is just about 1/30 of an inch).
So it's accurate.

It's a nice soft tape, with metal ends. On end "starts" at 0 inches and begins measuring. There's maybe 2 inches of blank tape after 60 inches, and then the tape ends. The tape is printed on both sides. One side features standard inches only, in bigger print. The other side measures both inches and centimeters in smaller print.

Both sides start measuring at the same end. This means that the tape isn't "always ready," but with my luck I'd have the wrong side up, so no real problem there.

I'd like it if this product was 72 inches long instead of 60 - I've got big shoulders, and they're getting bigger. But this does what it's supposed to, and I can always buy another one and tie them together! :-)

Fiskars 95237097 3-Piece Quilting Set Review

(More customer reviews)This mat is OK for small quilting pieces. I do not recommend this mat for fashion sewing.
I purchase replacement blades in a retail store when they go on sale for 40% off. The blades are kind of expensive so I recommend treating them with care. Always wipe them clean before you are done using them and put them back in the plastic container so they don't get dinged up.
You can get larger mats in retail stores. I don't recommend ordering large mats because of the oversize shipping charges.

Nancy Zieman 5-in-1 Sliding Gauge Review

(More customer reviews)Let me start by saying that I will write about what I know. My sewing skills are squarely at the beginning level, so I haven't used all of the features yet. I will add to this review as I use the product more.
The product is really well made. I like the durable plastic better than the flimsy metal. It has a nice weight and feels good in your hand.
First, even if you only use it as a sewing gauge for marking seam allowances, it's worth it. It's so much larger than the traditional sewing gauges. You really save a little time by using it. Using it as a hem gauge is a no-brainer. It took me a couple of minutes to figure out the markings, but I haven't picked up my old sewing gauge since.

I'll be making a shirt soon, so I'll let you know how the buttonhole spacing and marking work.
The one function I rarely see myself using is the circle compass. I don't quilt, so I found the instructions confusing.

The color is very bright and pretty, it heals very well, and the best feature is that it has tiny measurements. It even has measurements used most often outlined in bold, like 2x3, 3x5, 4x6, etc. I definitely will recommend it to everyone I know. I hope this helps with your decision:)

The little metal tip eventually fell off after a few weeks, but it could easily be clipped back on if needed. I personally can't be bothered!
