(More customer reviews)Although some animators use much larger and more expensive light boxes to draw with, this simple desktop version is a cheaper and more manageable alternative. We use these in all of our Manga and Anime workshops. The box provides a nice even lit area (no "hot spots") and a slight tilt to the drawing surface to make it more like a drafting table and easier to see what you are doing. The built-in pencil slot is handy for holding a few frequently-used pencils or pens. The lightweight plastic body and small size make it about as portable as you can expect a lightbox to be. It could use a carrying handle, though!

These handy 8ths graph rulers are transparent for visibility and beveled to accommodate work with ink. Edges are calibrated to 16ths to the inch with a zero centering scale down the middle. Laminated for durability. B-85M contains a stainless steel strip on one edge to prevent nicking when using a knife or razor.

It's so easy to use... it's convenient and I can take it to any class and not worry about getting in the way of other participants (which the larger lightboxes tend to do.) (More customer reviews)I love my lightbox. The light is bright, I can easily trace, the only thing I would add to it is some way to attach my paper to it without it slipping or moving. I have to use tape on the edges so I can keep it in place.

I bought it so that I could use it to turn complex scientific illustrations into line drawings for a class I teach and it is perfect for my purposes. It's lightweight, easy to move around, and sufficiently bright to do what I need it to do. It's also a good size for the price - you can trace a whole sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 paper with room to spare. For anyone who wants a simple, easy to use, and inexpensive light box, this is a good choice. I imagine it might not be appropriate for very heavy use and it is perhaps not as durable as some more expensive and/or professional models. However, for anyone who will use it only occasionally or will need to move a light box around from place to place (I'm thinking scrapbookers might fall into this category), this is a great little product. I'm sure I'll get a lot of use out of mine and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

French Curve Set 8/Bx Review

(More customer reviews)I needed an economy priced set of templates to help my design of woodworking plans. I was browsing around on Amazon and happened upon this set. Hmmmmmm, good price, good variety...what the heck!!
When I received the order I was thrilled! This set comes in a cardboard box which may not last too long but I thought they would all be wrapped in shrink-wrap and sent out. That was the first sign that this was a great bargain item.
All of the individual templates have a great feature that I didn't appreciate until I used it. They have a raised center edge that runs completely around the template. Kind of like a piece of bologna sticking out from between two slices of bread (pretty good huh?). This ridge keeps the template from interfering with the line and prevents all sorts of marks on the template itself.
High marks also go to the decision to make these templates fairly rigid. I ordered a batch of other templates at the same time and they bend and flop, sometimes while you are using it. Not these! They are substantial enough to withstand pressure as you draw and do not scoot out of the way.
I'm sure drafting students, design students, and design professionals could put this set to a much more rigorous workout than I ever will but I think they are great and are exceptionally designed.
