Fiskars 95117097 28mm Rotary Cutter Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this product to simplify longer cuts along a straight edge where a mounted cutter was too confining, and shears presented too many variances in the cut (potentially shaky operator influenced...).
Pros: Good product, easy to use, reliable safety features, cuts well with thin material (paper thin)
Cons: The product does not perform as well on heavier materials, and the blade can hang up on card stock thickness paper, which caused 'dimples' in the cut when the wheel failed to rotate completely (even with varying degrees of tightness of the mounting nut). It had no problems with thin sheet vinyl.
Summary: Overall a good product for the price, works as expected, but if you have heavier stock to cut, consider a more robust rotary cutter with bearings and a deeper blade.

Your item description states this is for fabric, paper and many other uses. Fortunately the blade does cut fabric resulting in a clean beautiful scallop finish. (More customer reviews)I had the opportunity to try the Olfa and the Fiskar rotary cutters from a friend who had both. After trying them for about 15 minutes, I decided I preferred the Fiskar cutter. The Olfa was okay and worked well, but the Fiskar cutter felt better ergonomically. The Fiskar handle was curved, sturdier with a better grip. I don't care for the straight cutters. Another friend also preferred the Fiskar cutter. We all decided Fiskar cutter was the best ergonomically, but will probably buy the Olfa blades. I hope this helps for those who may be on the border between the two. I rate it 4 stars because the blade is better on the Olfa.

The unit features a contoured loop handle for a secure, comfortable, left- or right-handed grip; a long-lasting razor-sharp blade; and alignment markings to ensure a correctly positioned blade guard.
