(More customer reviews)I am an Art teacher that has been using Fiskars student scissors for 10+ years. When I received my latest order of scissors, they were of this new type with the "larger" handles (exactly like these, but without the "softgrip"). Because of the new way that the blades are seated into the handles, they are prone to become loose and wobbly, eventually rendering them impossible to cut with. This is at the plastic connection point, not the pivot screw, so they cannot be re-tightened. I have 10 year old pairs of the other style that cut better than these new ones. Furthermore, the new, "larger" handles actually have smaller finger openings-- so they are uncomfortable for larger-handed students to use or for adults to demonstrate with.

(More customer reviews)The hardest part was cutting the hole in the fabric. I got several the wrong size! Sometimes the eyelet fell out cause I got the hole too big. Oh well, I'm clumsy with scissors.
From there it was easy. The directions are pretty straightforward. Use a scrap of lumber underneath so you don't ruin your work surface! It worked really well.

(More customer reviews)I had the opportunity to try the Olfa and the Fiskar rotary cutters from a friend who had both. After trying them for about 15 minutes, I decided I preferred the Fiskar cutter. The Olfa was okay and worked well, but the Fiskar cutter felt better ergonomically. The Fiskar handle was curved, sturdier with a better grip. I don't care for the straight cutters. Another friend also preferred the Fiskar cutter. We all decided Fiskar cutter was the best ergonomically, but will probably buy the Olfa blades. I hope this helps for those who may be on the border between the two. I rate it 4 stars because the blade is better on the Olfa.
