So when I was looking for high quality fabric shears,I looked for similar metals and details. The design pattern makes them a joy to use and such great quality for this price is hard to find locally! They can be sharpened many times by my professional scissor sharpener. I was updated daily on the shipping and received these scissors in a timely manner as promised. I'm making a memory quilt out of old jeans. When I used them for cutting heavy denim, they were sharp and precise. These are simply the best shears!.

I've been using a Gingher G10 in my work-shop for over 10 years, and it is a terrific trimmer. I recently needed a second pair of large scissors, so I bought another G10 model. I don't know how this tool could be any better than it is; it's that good.
Refer to Customer Images for a visual size comparison between a typically sized pair of scissors, and this Gingher model. The Fiskars model pictured is 8.5" long and weighs 2.5 ounces, while the Gingher G10 is 10.5"' long and weighs in at a hefty 13 ounces. In other words, the G10 weighs 5 times as much as typical scissors.
The G10 is heavy-duty and large, designed for big hands and tough shearing jobs. This model easily accommodates my XXL glove-size hand. I can actually get all four fingers in the large loop, but prefer to use three fingers with my index finger straight along the tool, as a guide while cutting. The thumb loop is very large, and my [big] thumb never gets "stuck" in the loop as it invariably does with average sized scissors. The handle is very comfortable for a big hand.
Quality is first rate. E.g., the chrome finish on my 10-year old G10 still looks new, with no chips of defects of any kind. I've never had to sharpen my older pair.
The G10 blades come very sharp from the factory and cuts paper with ease; as well as cardboard, thin leather, aluminum flashing, etc.
On the "negative" side, my guess is the G10 would be uncomfortably heavy to use for someone with small hands and the finger/thumb loops would be too large. My wife, who has small hands, can use them when her other scissors aren't up to a specific job, but she prefers smaller scissors.
These are man-sized, so if you need serious cutting power in a pair of scissors, this is the one to get.

At 9" they are a little heavy, but because of the construction and balance the weight is not noticeable. I have tried several pairs of scissors and these are by far my favorite. I don't plan to use any others. Good equipment makes sewing quicker and easier. They are worth every penny.

Make a few practice buttonholes and try the scissors on that. What's your alternative?...an Exacto knife or some other scary tool?

Mundial 801 Specialty Forged 4 1/2" Thread Clip Review

(More customer reviews)I use this thread clip more than any other cutting tool I own. It hangs from a cord around my neck at least eight hours daily. So far, I've replaced the cord three times, but the clip is still sharp and cuts like new. I use it mainly when precise thread cutting is essential, when cutting loose threads around the hem of a garment, and when cutting registration marks in fabric (it works much better than scissors for this, trust me!).
It is small, but the chrome plated carbon steel gives it a weighty, substantial quality that is lacking in cheaper plastic versions.
For those of us with large hands, this is a friendly alternative to tiny thread scissors. It's better because there is only one finger hole (generously sized) and the rest of my hand wraps freely around the clip. Since it must be squeezed in order to cut, I would not recommend it to people with carpal tunnel syndrome or arthritis.

Fiskars 12-71787097 No. 8 Titanium Nitride Softouch Scissors Review

(More customer reviews)I had a set of 8" Fiskars for years and that pair grew legs and walked. This is what I replaced them with and I am happier with these than I was with the old ones. The shaped handle is a great improvement over flat style handle spring loaded scissors. The safety clasp has been redesigned so that it won't warp and not work anymore which is great, no more scissors springing open and falling off the table. The blades are quite sharp and if this pair is anything like my old set, they won't need sharpening for at least a decade.

The only anoyance is that the holster that is included from Gingher is for the right hand scissors so they don't even fit in the holster. You would think if they would bother making a decorative tin and everything they could at least make the product work. But other than that these things are great.
