So when I was looking for high quality fabric shears,I looked for similar metals and details. The design pattern makes them a joy to use and such great quality for this price is hard to find locally! They can be sharpened many times by my professional scissor sharpener. I was updated daily on the shipping and received these scissors in a timely manner as promised. I'm making a memory quilt out of old jeans. When I used them for cutting heavy denim, they were sharp and precise. These are simply the best shears!.

(More customer reviews)After using my bathroom tweezers to yank jammed thread from my machine, I almost did a jig when these arrived. When you pick them up, you notice the difference immediately. They have a wonderful weight to them. Just right for digging under my throat plate.
They are also super sharp, which is useful when I'm trying to deconstruct one of my many sewing mistakes. I've used them on a thin fabric with fine thread and the performed beautifully. Seriously, these are very sharp so be careful. The come with a plastic sleeve for storage.

Gingher 10 Inch Knife Edge Bent Trimmers Review

I've been using a Gingher G10 in my work-shop for over 10 years, and it is a terrific trimmer. I recently needed a second pair of large scissors, so I bought another G10 model. I don't know how this tool could be any better than it is; it's that good.
Refer to Customer Images for a visual size comparison between a typically sized pair of scissors, and this Gingher model. The Fiskars model pictured is 8.5" long and weighs 2.5 ounces, while the Gingher G10 is 10.5"' long and weighs in at a hefty 13 ounces. In other words, the G10 weighs 5 times as much as typical scissors.
The G10 is heavy-duty and large, designed for big hands and tough shearing jobs. This model easily accommodates my XXL glove-size hand. I can actually get all four fingers in the large loop, but prefer to use three fingers with my index finger straight along the tool, as a guide while cutting. The thumb loop is very large, and my [big] thumb never gets "stuck" in the loop as it invariably does with average sized scissors. The handle is very comfortable for a big hand.
Quality is first rate. E.g., the chrome finish on my 10-year old G10 still looks new, with no chips of defects of any kind. I've never had to sharpen my older pair.
The G10 blades come very sharp from the factory and cuts paper with ease; as well as cardboard, thin leather, aluminum flashing, etc.
On the "negative" side, my guess is the G10 would be uncomfortably heavy to use for someone with small hands and the finger/thumb loops would be too large. My wife, who has small hands, can use them when her other scissors aren't up to a specific job, but she prefers smaller scissors.
These are man-sized, so if you need serious cutting power in a pair of scissors, this is the one to get.

They worked great and cut through the knit fabric with no problem at all and they weren't too heavy in my hand, which was a big plus. They were very comfortable to use once I got the hang of the odd shape. I would recommend these scissors if you do reverse appliques, for sure.

They have always been a bit fragile - drop them and they may never work right again, like the 5" craft scissors I had to replace a few years ago. Of course, that can be said for any scissor, probably.I haven't dropped these (yet!) but just the look of them is disappointing. Oh, they're functional, but they are little, if any, better than the el cheapo pair of double curve embroidery scissors I already have. The Ginghers I've had before always looked and felt well-made and cut smooth as butter. These Ginghers aren't finished well, and do not have the expensive look and feel that I have always expected from Gingher. After I bought the cheaper pair a few years ago, I always regretted that I hadn't gone for the Ginghers. Now I find that it really didn't make much difference anyway. Try Havel instead, if they have the style of scissor you want (they had nothing comparable to these.)

Gingher Seam Ripper Review

(More customer reviews)I have and love many Gingher products and was very excited about this seam ripper. The design appeared to be sleek and comfortable for the dreaded chore of ripping. The seam is quite ergonomic and I really like the design and feel of it. The problem is surprisingly the blade. First, the "tip" is the largest I have ever seen on a seam ripper and is blunt. So, forget using it to pick very small stitches. it is too big to "fit" into stitches made with a 1.5 stitch length. Second, the blade is actually dull. This is like the "surgical hook" style of ripper and I could actually rub my finger back and forth over the blade with some pressure quite comfortably. If I could, I would absolutely return it, but I misplaced the shipping label and the vendor will not take it back without it. Perhaps, I just received a dud blade, but if this is the general nature of the product, purchase a cheap ripper under $5 and you will be better able to get the job done. I am going to write to Gingher about this as I still believe they have good quality standards and just missed on this one. Perhaps, with some direct feedback a better blade will evolve with this great design.

At 9" they are a little heavy, but because of the construction and balance the weight is not noticeable. I have tried several pairs of scissors and these are by far my favorite. I don't plan to use any others. Good equipment makes sewing quicker and easier. They are worth every penny.
