(More customer reviews)Back in July, I purchased this iron as my latest, expensive Rowenta iron started leaking like a sieve (at just over 1 year old). This iron is fantastic! From the first time I used it, it has been great.
The Reliable iron has a separate chamber and heat source for the water that generates the steam. This means that steam is available at a lower heat setting than usual. Also, the steam is consistent - no spitting, leaking or dribbling. The steam can be used with the iron in a vertical position (for steam-pressing a garment). The iron has two steam settings. The higher steam setting puts forth a tremendous amount of steam - just like a steam generator iron but without having a separate water tank to deal with.
The manufacturer does recommend using distilled water (really the only downside). The iron has removable/replaceable filters to extend the life of the iron by filtering out the mineral deposits that can prematurely gunk up an iron.
All in all, this is one terrific iron. I highly recommend it to anyone, especially to anyone who does sewing/quilting. Fantastic iron!

I have bought many irons in my 30 years in business. And have paid large sums of money for some of them.
This iron is the best all around iron on the market today. I don't say that lightly either. It does pull more power with it's heavy duty electric cord, I expect my electric bill will go up slightly now that I use this exclusively on my fabrics..... But the finished product is so much nicer and I get the professional finish I want to have on my handwovens. The added cost is worth the finished product.

(More customer reviews)I expected an iron by Singer to be...a lightweight. I WAS SOOOOO wrong! I have a 1400-watt German-made Rowenta iron that has been my standard for a long time but I was BLOWN AWAY by the Singer. 1700 watts makes a difference!
The iron has a good, hefty feel. It has a digital readout that tells you the temp and type of fabric suitable for that amount of heat. It also suggests steam or not. It has a very quiet beep that indicates that the iron is up to temp. And it heats up FAST - less than a minute to the linen setting.
And HOT! Oh baby. Ironed 100% linen in nothing flat, one pass with steam, no heavy pressing necessary. The soleplate is stainless steel and was very smooth. It has a nice point - easy to get the corners and edges - and QUICK.
NO dribbling, spitting, sputtering. The water filling hole has a cover so you can't accidentally slop hot water all over your hands or project.
The phone rang. I left the iron at the board, answered, and came back. It had shut itself off, but when I turned it back on it remember the setting I'd left it on. More linen followed.
I ironed cotton. A breeze. Quilters, you would love this!
I give it a hearty recommendation for occasional or heavy-duty ironing. You will not waste time PRESSING and waiting for results. It is SO hot that it does the job for you.
Finally, even though I used a lot of steam the water didn't seem to go down very fast (compared to my Rowenta, which is a water hog).

The table was fairly easy to assemble, although one of the underside table inserts does not attach evenly and if connected makes the table sit unbalanced. So I leave it disconnected and all is fine. This table is great because it has a large work area, it has wheels and can be moved around and it folds down to save space. I am very happy with this purchase.

This little piece of equipment accomplishes both. Using it means I don't have a crease in my sleeves; a crease is not only the hallmark of the unskilled presser, it will damage the fabric over time. This sleeve board works on shirts of all sizes even women's shirts which usually have narrower sleeves. It's an invaluable tool. Martha Stewart would be proud of me.

First time, spray didn't work, second time, power steam button didn't release the steam, third time, it was too strong fabric got stock underneath the iron and I couldn't clean the iron, fourth time, steam problem again, fifth time, steam problem again. Poorly tested product. I would've been really happy to keep it, if it was working properly. It actually had all the features I was looking for. Too bad for Rowenta for not testing their products properly.

(More customer reviews)Heavy,substantial,looks and feels sturdy.It is broader in width compared to that of regular ironing boards and so I'm not sure if I can find a padded cover that would cover it well and fit it snugly in case I have to replace the one that came with it. I have not checked any stores for this yet. The pad that came with it is not thick enough to my standards.The broader width, though, is a plus feature for me. It is quite heavy as I've said earlier and makes it hard to move it around, fold and put it right up, but it is sturdy. It was also shipped in a flimsy cardboard and not well protected that the iron holder got bent on one side, not so bad, though that that part could no longer be used. However, with the price tag, I was hoping to recieve it in top-notch shape.

Of course, not having to do all the extra exercise of holding it up to rest on its end really helps---just move off the ironing area and let go...it automatically raises and I have even set it on a wood table and it raises and doesn't leave a mark. The stainless soleplate is very smooth and would be easy to clean if necessary---and I prefer stainless over the teflon for environmental reasons as well as had trouble with another teflon iron in the past....

Clover Mini Iron Cooling Tote Bag Review

(More customer reviews)I confess, I was uncertain how much heat this would block, but after a couple of years of use, I can tell you that you don't have to wait even five minutes to pack up your mini-iron. Don't hit your hand with the hot part, and once it's in this it doesn't get as hot as the outside of a cup of coffee. Don't worry that it will harm its own cord. Just wind the cord around your hand and tuck it in the separate pocket.
Very few of us have a room to dedicate as a sewing studio. Even then, I want to keep things handy but cleared up (as a bookkeeper, I cleared my desk into drawers, files, &c. at the end of every day). If you're the normal sewer, anything you leave out is making clutter, so getting to put things away *right now* rather than waiting until they cool is best. This is also great for someone planning on going to quilting workshops: you have to pack up quickly when it's over.

Oliso TG-1600 Smart Iron Review

(More customer reviews)I got this iron last week and was able to spend a full 12 hours (on and off) ironing with it recently. On one occasion during my marathon ironing session, I did have some water come out of the iron, but it was when I overfilled the water tank and was ironing forcefully and rapidly. It didn't leak from the steam vents, it appeared to splash a drop of water from above, and it wasn't a shocker to me. My GE iron used to soak my clothes out of the steam holes, every ironing session, so I know what 'spitting' is, and this iron definitely does not 'spit'.
I bought this model because as a quilter, I wanted an iron with an auto shut off, but I wanted an extended shut off time (the other models turn off a lot more quickly than this one). I love how fast this iron heats up. As for actual ironing--it does a very nice job---no better than any other iron would...every iron is simply a hot metal plate that presses out wrinkles..it's not rocket science...it's all about the bells and whistles, and this one is, by far, the most unique iron on the market today with the loudest bells and whistles.
I ironed over buttons, snaps, used spray starch and Mary Ellen's best press, I steamed, I sprayed, I turned it off and on. I had a little film on the soleplate when I was done (having used almost a full can of spray starch and a quarter bottle of Best Press) and it wiped right off with a Clorox wipe (which I also used to wipe off the spray starch residue from it's colorful plastic body). It was easy to add water to, and it was even easier to empty the water from the tank when I was done. I was ironing in a tight space, and as many times as I bumped into the ironing board squeezing past, not once did the iron fall off onto the floor. It took me no more than 2 shirts to stop trying to stand it on it's side and get with the 'Smart Iron' program.
I considered a Rowenta, but I read plenty of unsatisfied reviews from Rowenta users. Just as I read a few snarky reviews on this one. No matter the brand, there will be haters out there, just as there will be lovers. It's a small appliance, it's not a lifelong commitment. If it stabs me in the back a month down the road, I'll sell it at a yard sale or on eBay and move on to the next , but for now, ironing is fun.
