These backpacks can be used for cameras (with plenty of compartments) OR as a purse on the go. I have a baby, and I love using a backpack because I am HANDS FREE! Very sturdy. I love the entire SCRAPBUG TOTE CO. line.

Amy Butler Patterns-Nappy Bag Review

I made this as a sleepover bag for my 9-year-old daughter a few days ago and we both love it. The instructions are simple and the bag is easy to make. I omitted the bottle pocket since it's not a diaper bag for us and also omitted the cell phone pocket. I made this in probably 3-4 hours. The bag is quite large- definitely not an everyday diaper bag that I would've used when my kids were babies.

I've made a number of Amy Butler's bags over the past few years and this one is probably my new favorite. The directions are well written. The pattern is simple yet very stylish. I've made the handbag and tote and will probably make them both again as gifts. This is an advanced beginner project or an ambitious beginner project. Have fun!

Amy Butler Patterns-Stash/Dash Review

I have made 7 of these bags now. They are really fun to make. I think the pattern is very well written, and the construction process used is not too difficult. Even the zipper is not difficult to install (and I am sort of scared of zippers). The finished product is very professional looking. I gave my mom a set of these for Christmas, and she commented on how professional looking they were.
I will say, when I first read some of the steps, they didn't make sense. But if you just do what the instructions say, you'll do fine. The more I made them, the more sense the instructions made. You'll probably want to make more than one if you try these. They're sort of addicting, I think!
I blogged a more in depth review, including photos of the bags I made if you'd like to see it:

Amy Butler Birdie Sling Tote Bag Midwest Modern Sewing Pattern Review

I am in the process of making this bag today, and I am positively flabbergasted at how inflated the fabric quantities needed for this pattern are! There is no way on God's green Earth you need 1 1/8 yards of both the exterior fabric and handle fabric! I have way more than 1/2 yard left of both of these, and about 1/3 yard left of the lining fabric as well.
Plus, the layout instructions for cutting out the pieces is terrible! It's like they want you to waste as much of the fabric as humanly possible. I guess maybe Amy Butler is hoping you'll use all of her own fabrics to make some extra $$$'s off the inflated quantities this pattern states to buy! I recommend buying 1 yard each of the fabrics at the very MOST, and using common sense to layout the fabrics better before cutting it so that at least you can utilize all the leftover yardage for another project.
