The Shakers produced oval boxes with uniformly slender sides, symmetrical joints, and neat, tight-fitting lids. Shaker Workshops oval boxes are unique because we make them on reproductions of the original forms and templates used at the Mt. Lebanon, New York Shaker community during the mid-19th century. Like the Shakers, we produce our oval boxes in eleven different sizes and we use the original Shaker numbering system (No. 11 being the smallest box and No. 1 being the largest box). This is the No. 1 size Shaker Oval Box. We handcraft them of select Pennsylvania cherry, secured by copper tacks. Tops and bottoms are fastened with wooden pegs. We hand rub them with several coats of oil finish and buff them until they "glow". The Shakers used oval boxes for sewing and quilting notions and for kitchen dry goods. Today, their uses are unlimited. We also sell nests of oval boxes on this web site, for a special price. Made in USA.

Not sure what fabric holds the mark for 24 hrs, it disappears immediately on my all cotton quilt; the fabric can't even hold the design for 5 minutes. DO NOT BUY THIS PEN!!!

I bought this die for use with my new AccuQuilt GO! Fabric Cutter. I'm impressed with quick and easily it cuts fabrics, as well as with the accuracy of the cuts. This die cuts fabric squares that are 3.5" inches on each side; if you quilt with 1/4" inch seams, then that means the finished square is 3" inches on each side. Almost all of my quilting is done with combinations of 3.5" squares, so this die has been a great investment for me.
The die cuts two squares per cut - if you layer the fabric with eight layers (the maximum thickness the AccuQuilt claims to be able to accommodate), that gives you 16 squares per cut. It takes about five minutes to layer the fabric and run it through the machine, so you can cut about 100 squares in half an hour time.
The only complaint I have with this die is that it is a bit wasteful of fabric - I do wish they had made it with less "empty" space on the sides, to allow for tighter cutting, but I suppose if you got creative with your fabric folding it wouldn't be as much of an issue. For myself, I never seem to have enough scraps for scrap quilts, so I'm just being "wasteful" and saving the scraps in my barren scrap basket.
Do note that you will need the GO! 5x10 Cutting Mat to use with this die, as well as the actual AccuQuilt Go fabric cutting machine. I've attached the video I created for my AccuQuilt review to show this die in action.
