EQ6 makes if fast and easy to create blocks and add them to your library. I particularly like the help videos they have included. They have expanded the paper-pieced library to include some cute & fun items such as vegies, beach scenes and more animals. With the expanded fabric library its easier now more than ever to make your quilts look just right.
EQ6 is an essential quilters tool. My one peeve with it is that they do not offer downloadable expansions from their website, and creating layouts is still a little awkward.

(More customer reviews)One. of two, of my all time favorite books for quilt making, hands down. Liz and Marianne have created a book that will teach everyone some important skills. It sits inches away from my machine at all times. If I have a question I run to this book for the answers. The layout is fantastic. It starts out with a Quilt making Primer, which offers you everything you need to know about Tools, fabrics, and colors. You learn basic quilting skills and then move into direction for block drafting. Then it is onto borders, where you will find an important chart on how to calculate for borders. The book takes you through the step-by-step process of thinking, creating, making and finishing a quilt. Every step along the way there are two page classes on skills you can learn, to put into action the tricks they just taught. Then you move beyond basic patchwork to more intricate techniques. The patterns range from easy to more complicated and remove the risk element on new techniques while you learn different block construction skills.

My hands and shoulders do not get as tired when using the slider, and it takes less time to quilt a project. The only down-side is having to remove the slider temporarily every time I need to change the bobbin.

I loved how my quilt looked when I tore away the paper. I will definately use these patterns again. And it was much cheaper than sending my quilt out to be quilted.

I like hand applique and paper piecing for my favorite forms of quilting. I recently purchased EQ7 for my two home computers. I have been an EQ5 user for many years. The new EQ7 is steps above the EQ5, lots of upgrades, lots of changes for the good. I would highly recommend EQ7 for the novice or expert quilt maker or designer. Wonderful program!

-200 quilt blocks to choose from
-3000 fabrics to choose from
-lay out blocks in standard rows or on point
-you can use a standard layout and number of blocks or customize
-sashing and/or borders can be added.
-experiment with color and block changes with a few clicks of the mouse
-print out yardage estimates, templates or rotary instructions, and lots of other goodies
-visit the Quilt Design Wizard for free montly download to get new block and fabrics
Limitations:
-200 blocks may sound like a lot, but if you want a block and it's not there, you're out of luck; also, you can't create your own block
-fabric library is big, but does not permit you to scan in other fabrics, which can be helpful for some newer quilting techniques
Overall, this is a great beginning quilt program. I love being able to try out my designs and color schemes BEFORE I commit them to fabric. However a professional designer or someone with advanced computer skills and/or deeper pockets might want to go ahead and invest in Electric Quilt which is much more complex, expensive and versatile software made by the same company.
That being said, this software is perfect for me, since I like to keep things simple when it comes to computers. I can design a quilt and easily play around with the color scheme, arrangement of blocks and dimensions. This software is very simple to use and has already been lots of fun and help to me. I'm delighted with this software and will recommend it to my friends.

(More customer reviews)The Little Gracie II Machine Quilting Frame is a marvelous, sturdy, easy to construct frame for home machine quilting. It takes time and patience but all parts are clearly labeled and it comes with both a guidebook and a DVD. Watch the DVD first to get a great overview. Now, The Janome part is another story: It is advertised in this package as the machine to use for quilting on this frame, which needs major clarification. It does not have a feed dog lowering feature so extra parts are needed which should come with the machine in order to make it work. There was only a straight foot and a hemmer in the Janome package (figure those for free form machine quilting??). The Janome site is not clear in reference to support; in fact when contacting them they told me to go to a local dealer. There are no other guidelines for use other than the basic plug it in, thread it booklet, no accessories information, etc. I would buy the Little Gracie II by itself and find myself another long-arm quilting machine if I had it to do over for purchase. However, the support from Amazon has been great in helping me obtain the foot needed to make this system work as it should have as advertised.

Bendable Bright Light Kit Review

The light is easy to install and instructions are good. Despite the time I spent deciding on where to locate the light, I wish I had placed it differently on my machine. The only suggestion I offer would to be include a little of the glue-dissolving substance in the light kit, in case of error. I'm not happy about having to locate a particular product to fix my misplacement of the light(using anything else might damage the machine surface).
Over all- definitely a good product and good service from seller.

It causes the top material to feed at the same time the bottom piece is feeding in, resulting in more accurage placements of the materials. The drawback is that it does not work in reverse. So, it is just right -- a real asset. However, when you get to the end of your stitching, you can't do a reverse stitch to lock it in. In any event, it is well made, easy to install, built so that you can see where your stitches are being placed and I would certainly want one in my sewing machine's tool kit.

Brother SA107 Walking Foot Review

(More customer reviews)For anyone who owns a sewing machine, I would say this foot is a MUST HAVE. There are times when nothing else will substitute.
I am a seamstress and own 6 sewing machines. Two I have lent to daughters, so I have three I use alternatively, depending on my project, plus we have a heavy-duty machine. Recently, my husband purchased a Brother. I was surprised and asked him why he did that since we already have four other machines.
He is a boat-builder and wanted to try his hand at sewing the sail for it. He purchased the Dacron sail-cloth. It is such a heavy-weight processed cloth that pinning it is next to impossible. He discovered a specialized double-stick tape that works, but it is so slippery, the poor little Brother machine was not able to handle this alone, so I purchased this walking foot.
It has made all the difference. I have a picture of him on the floor, sail cloth surrounding him, taking up most of our front room, foot pedal in one hand, along with the cloth, the other hand behind the machine, feeding the cloth through as he sews this difficult piece. I am so proud of him for his efforts and excellent work. He truly feels he couldn't have done what he did without that walking foot.
To my husband I say: Well done, Friend.
