Big Sky Riding Skirt Pattern Review

I made the 'Big Sky Riding Skirt' for a dear friend. It fit her beautifully. The skirt has a 21st century look, with clean-lines; quite versatile with the button-front panel which folds (button-down) to the right leg. The leg openings are roomy. The look is more than ranch-style; it's urban-chic!!!

Bring out the cowgirl in you! Equestrian women of the early 20th century, who were determined to ride astride rather than sidesaddle, wore these divided skirts. An ingenious fashion, with front panel that buttons one way for a skirt and the other way for pants. Pattern is derived from a skirt worn by legendary rancher and rodeo rider, Fannie Sperry Steele. Suggested fabrics: Medium to heavyweight cottons and blends such as poplin, denim, gabardine, corduroy; linen; light to medium-weight wools; suiting weight silks

Dritz(R) Skirt Pins 3 Inch -Silver 2/Pkg Review

Dritz(R) Skirt Pins 3 Inch -Silver 2/Pkg

These nickel plated steel Dritz "skirt" pins are three inches long, have a smooth, sharp point, fasten securely, and DO NOT RUST. So they are GREAT for a LOT MORE than just kilts or wrap around skirts! I use them to pin on my hat in windy weather (sometimes TWO at a time!) or when I'm gardening in the hot sun. I also use them for securing a shawl, or scarf, on my shoulder. Never have these pins marred the fabric, or come loose, PLUS, they LOOK GREAT! In fact, I sometimes get asked if the pin came with the shawl, or where did I get it? In decorating, I also use these Dritz pins to pin back casual window coverings, like curtains, or to lightly secure a throw on the back of the sofa. A really good value, these skirt pins have become a basic tool in our household! Recommended!
(Pins are made in Malaysia. Because of their size, pins are not recommended for fine, or thin fabrics.)
