(More customer reviews)This item arrived on time and as described. I have had it for a few weeks now and am enjoying the new ease with which I can tailor store-bought as well as handmade items. Since it is impossible to create a form for everyone I will offer up some tips for using a dress form if an exact fit is really important: Purchase a bra that you already wear and like and a pair of those support-type girdle briefs. Have a friend measure you everywhere (a good sewing book should be helpful with where to measure) and pad the form as needed to match your exact shape. For pads I used nylons and stuffing from a pillow. This creates a true double of your form, and allows you more places to attach pins, since the fabric of the form is a bit difficult to attach pins to. Also, for altering hems or heavy items, you may want to make a few sand bags to place on the legs of the form.

(More customer reviews)I bought this dressform on sale for $129.99. It is an excellent value for that price, however, I feel as though the stand and the adjustment controls should both be sturdier to completely justify the full retail price which is why I gave it four rather than five stars. I'm using a base from a discarded office chair for my dressform which works perfectly to solve the light weight base issue. The flimsy adjustment controls would not be any sort of problem for a home user but I would have some concern about how they would hold up for someone who sews for others and would need to make frequent adjustments.
I did find the bust on the dressform to be two inches too low but I was easily able to correct this by putting one of my bras on the form and stuffing it with batting. This solution could be a bit problematic for someone who wears an A or B sized cup. It is my understanding that the Dritz Twinfit has a higher bustline if that is an issue.
By using the dressform's adjustment controls and using some quilt batting I was able to get a remarkably accurate double of my body in a surprisingly short amount of time. I can't overstate how much faster and easier the dressform has made fitting. My only regret is that I didn't buy one years ago.

(More customer reviews)I love this bodice. It's a tiny bit touchy when adjusting but you just have to do it in small increments. The thing I love about this particular bodice in comparison to some others is that I'm not exactly proportional, I tend to be smaller on top than on bottom. So the bodices that are in my bust and waist range are just a bit too small in the hip range. This dressform has a slightly wider range of adjustment in the hips than any other one I've seen and therefore I can actually make it my exact size. It's easy to set up and it does all the things I need it to. I'm very happy with it.

I was looking for a form that could help me rework my clothes that I like, but never wear because they just don't look good when I put them on. Now, I have lots of really neat skirts to wear to work and blouses that coordinate. I was able to add trim, buttons, and decorative stitching that created a more expensive look.
I also make kilts and this is an awesome product that helps me get the job done.

I have 3 dressforms, one from fabulous fit, and 2 from singer, and dritz. The fitting system works great on all 3. I can change my dress forms at will. I work on several sizes from 2 to 18 and there is no need for my clients to have more than one fitting. I highly recommend it. It will save you hours of fitting frustration.

Fabulous Fit dress form Fitting System for dress forms and sewing. iIt ncludes interchangeable life-like contoured pads and two body covers (with industry grain lines) that allow women who wear the same size, but are shaped differently, to customize each area of the bosom, waist, hips, butt, and thighs. (More customer reviews)Initially I thought the base of the stand was constructed oddly, but it's surprisingly secure. I don't have many worries about the form tipping, which is the main concern I've sent mentioned with other dress forms. Another good point is that unlike most dress forms which have one adjustment knob for each measurement (hips, waist, bust)there are four ajustments points for each: front, each side and back. This would allow truer measurement - if you are more full in the rear for instance.
Unforunately, I was dissapointed with the overall construction of this dress form:
- The molded plastic form itself had a slightly mishapen shoulder, only one side. It's minor, and shouldn't affect fitting (I hope).
- Unfortunately, the mechanisms used to adjust the form are ALL plastic, from the adjusting wheel to the bolts. They're kind of a cheap plastic. I don't expect that I will be making many adjustments, after I adjust the form to my size, but I don't expect they will hold up long to repetitive use. If you construct garments for other people, and need to adjust the form frequently to accomodate different sizes, you'll be very disapointed. Even for me, I don't expect them to last long, and I already have plans to 'modify' by replacing these parts with something more durable.
- The adujusting knob at the top, meant to adjust the neck is very clunky, and like the other adjustment parts, is entirely of cheap plastic.
Overall, I needed a dress form, and now I have one. It's overall better than some of the newer models in this price range, but like the others, the form is constructed rather cheaply. This won't stand up to regular use as made. I'd have given the dress form glowing reviews had the manufacturer spent an extra dollar or two and used aluminum parts instead of plastic.

(More customer reviews)I thought I'd made a good choice in choosing this dress form over the Singer one. However, it does not at all seem like an over $100 quality product.
The base is extremely flimsy and poorly constructed, and won't stay together. Every time I try to move the dress form, the base falls apart. Also, the hem marker doesn't stay in the right place, and the entire dress form rocks back and forth at the touch of a finger. There is no way I can work with this. I am exchanging it for the Singer version which is only 10 dollars more, and much sturdier.

(More customer reviews)i bought this product rushedly. that was a mistake on my part. this sewing dummy does not have the average shape of a woman.
for women with wide ribcages and small breasts, wide hips but no [...], this is for you. i am NOT in anyway downtalking women like that. i am simply saying that this dummy was made for women of that body type. i do not have that body type and when i started making clothes acording to this dummy, my clothes were turning out to hardly fit me right at all. not to mention that the dummy does not have a natural curving body. when to the side, it is straight as a board. the natural human body has a dip in the lower back and then curves back out to where your [...] is. not this dummy, though. just straight down. big disappointment
but other than that there is more bad things to add about this dummy
it is not well made. the quality is low. after i adjusted the dummy just a couple of times, the top of the dummy started to detatch from the pole and therefore making the torso completely uneven. the adjusting system is VERY bad quality
i have to use duct tape to kepp my dummy from detatching again. therefore: i can't adjust it anymore
so please if u are looking for a dummy that will fit the average girl's body well and that will stay in tact, do NOT get this dummy

(More customer reviews)I attended school for apparel design, so I know that this form does not compare to the profesional wolf forms or superior model forms that range from 300-1000$.
Basically, if you are like me and have a symmetrical form and are relatively built like a dress form and are not intending to do a strenuous amount of sewing for professional reasons (unless this is to bide your time in the start up phase of a business), then great! You can probably go with one of the cheaper models out there.
However, remember that this model has a wonderful natural. more realistic hip section and mid section and separated leg area which makes it available for getting the hip area of pants correct. It also has a longer support pole, to keep your garment off the ground, or if you are tall. It is steam-able, rotates 360, and pinable. Remember to use a bra on the form that you intend to wear with the garment you are constructing. This will really help especially with strapless ensembles.
If you have a hard to replicate form, such as enlarged midsection, uneven shoulders, etc, consider a My Twin Dress form which is created to your specific body shape.
Otherwise, the my double deluxe works well enough for me.
