pointpresser works well enough to enable one to value having one to use as opposed to not having one and having to resort to spreading apart collars and other narrow seamed areas on a flat surface while trying to butter fly seam or press understitching.
The clapper portion is a better alternative to the flattened palm for "beating seams" to set them, plus, just leave the clapper on a cooling seam and walk away, have a sip of water and return to a cool and set seam.
The extremely Creative minds can get around having to buy this item for the point presser---The palm is nice enough for a clapper if one doesn't mind a steam burn or two---However, The patient and dilligently serious tailoring student or professional who wants to enjoy the "no guaranteed BENEFITS" and "trade's man" pleasure of having the right tools for the job should get this item.
If you are not going to be a professional sewer of any variety or are extremely resourceful, don't bother spend the money.

The clapper can flatten bulky facing, a collar edge, pleats, even button holes! You can press even hard-to-reach spots with the narrow seams created by this point presser!
