Over the years I have had more and more trouble threading needles. I guess I have to admit that my eyesight just isn't what it used to be. As a result, I have avoided mending and pretty much as much hand-sewing as I can. But this is not always possible. I wet the end of the thread, I cut the end of the thread at an angle I tried the wire loop threader, even a little funny-looking red and white plastic thing-y you put the needle in and drape the thread across and press the lever to thread a needle --ineffective and very, very frustrating.
With these needles "mission accomplished"! Simply place the thread in the notch at the top and pull the thread down to the loop. Even I can find the notch. The only downside is you have to be careful and not pull too hard when hand-sewing as the needle can come up empty after the thread pops off. At least it is easy to re-thread. I bought my sister a pack too and she was thrilled (and BTW so was my nephew) so maybe it isn't just my "old eyes". I recommend these needles for quick, easy threading if you find threading regular needles a "pain in the eye".

A large collection for the avid sewer. The thread is stretched across a guiding slot at the top of the eye and then pulled into the eye without having to locate the tiny hole. These self-threading needles will free you from eye strain.
