(More customer reviews)My husband and I are either frugal or cheapskates, depending on who you talk to. If we can do without or can buy a cheaper version, we tend to. However, we are willing to pay more for quality items, if convinced that that quality will make a meaningful difference. My first pair of kitchen shears were cheap. I struggled to use them with many items, and the the blades ended up being slightly out of alignment. My husband's family has a lot of experience with Cutco knives, so we knew their quality. We finally decided to take the plunge and buy Cutco kitchen shears. We don't regret that. They're expensive, but we've found them to be worth every penny.
I use them frequently to cut up meat, and it's relatively effortless, even with my minor joint pain in my hand. Smooth cuts with clean edges. I also have used kitchen shears to cut pizza, and that works nicely too. The handle is very comfortable to use when cutting for an extended period of time. My old shears left red indentations in my hand when used extensively! The scissors are easily taken apart to clean, and easily fit back together. They stay together too, unlike some that frequently fall apart!
If you're a frequent cook who uses kitchen shears, I would definitely recommend these from Cutco. Yes, they're pricey, but for me, it's worth it.

What I have available is a pair of Super Shears from Cutco Cutlery. These are absolutely the best scissors on the market. Might have seen someone cut a penny with these,that is how strong the steel is on these. No lie you'll have this pair of scissors forever!

Microplane 34007 Cut-Resistant Glove Review

(More customer reviews)I too bought this glove to use with my mandoline slicer, but now that I have it I use it with my microplane and other food graters as well. I thought it might be a bit cumbersome, but it's not at all. I think it's important to remember that this glove is cut RESISTANT, not cut proof.
The glove fits my hand very well, but I can see that it might be too small for others. I normally wear a woman's size small glove. This microplane glove is quite flexible though, and I'm certain it would easily fit a woman's size medium or even large. One man's review here indicates he struggled but managed to get it on his bigger hand. I agree there should be one or two other size options, and this is the only reason I didn't give this a 5-star rating.
It goes without saying that the glove will need cleaning after using it to hold food against a slicer or grater. It is machine washable, but not machine dryable. Here's what I do to clean the glove in between machines washings ==> with the glove still on my hand, I squeeze some liquid soap onto the fingertips of the glove and then wash it under warm running water with the help of a small kitchen cleaning brush. With the glove still on my hand, I give it a rinse, blot most of the water off with a hand towel, then let it air dry. I've had no problem with lingering odors using this or the machine method of washing.
