(More customer reviews)I was skeptical at first because I have a hard time trusting brands like Conair but I purchased this one anyway and it works great. Produces lots of steam so make sure you're careful when steaming! People complain about it leaking and not producing steam after a period of time....if they read the instructions they would know that it only leaks if the water container goes below half and that you're supposed to decalcify the unit from time to time (using a 3:1 water-vinegar solution) to remove any mineral buildup in the unit so that it produces steam normally. Avoid the problem altogether by using distilled or demineralized water only. Take care of it and it works like a charm. The only thing I don't fancy is that the steam hose gets pretty hot. The handle gets warm but not enough to be a problem.

(More customer reviews)I can't say I differ much from the other review. I just got mine and I too thought I was loving the feeling of NOT ironing. I had had other hand held cheaper steams so I knew it wouldn't equal an iron but I didn't expect to stand in a lake of water and have steam for only 3 minutes. I thought mine was just defective but now that I read the other person's only steamed for a few minutes perhaps this IS the design. ewww
What was more shocking is after adding water time after time after time when I started to disassembled it to return it IT WAS FULL OF MORE THAN ONE CUP OF WATER!
And that means it does not know when it needs water and it leaks. Two issues.
If not for them I tell you the accessories are the thing. The mitt truly protects your hand from high heat. Heck I'd use it with a regular iron. The lint attachment works well. The hose was surprise. IT IS LIKE VELVET. Truly nice to hold. Steam head is nice and large.
But that's all I got to enjoy because by time I covered shoulder to waist on a long coat (front only) I realized I had a floor full of water and I was done!
I'll let you know if an exchange is any better. I'm beginning to think it won't help either.
Can anyone tell me of one that is a lot better than this?

This is the first steamer I have owned and it was recommended to me by my sister who ran a clothing boutique store and used it on tons of clothes. It was very easy for me, a beginner. I still have to get used to putting creases into pants, but so far I'm doing a fair job of it.

It does save you from burning your clothes especially light materials. It will take time to get use to using it so, if you buy this product be patient. Like I said, it works great but did not save me time in removing Wrinkles.

(More customer reviews)I'll make it simple: If you are looking for a home-edition garment steamer, your top 2 choices in the marketplace will likely be the Jiffy 2000 and the Rowenta 8100.
I tested both for 10 hours; on a 1 to 10 scale:
Jiffy (Looks = 6; Engineering = 10; Handling = 9; Craftsmanship = 10).
It looks like a mop bucket on wheels but it performs like a jet engine; every part of this machine from the plate at the bottom of the unit to the steam handle is built for rugged usage.
Rowenta (Looks = 10; Engineering = 5; Handling = 7; Crafsmanship = 4).
It looks like a UFO but performs like a Pinto with much less steaming power; it is built as a toddler's toy having most parts made with inexpensive plastic including the watertank base and valve: pull the machine a single foot OR tilt it a mere 1 inch and you will experience a slow-building cascade.
Buy the Rowenta 8100 as a decorative piece to make your closet look good.
Buy the Jiffy 2000 as a garment steamer to make your clothes look good.

(More customer reviews)I don't understand the negative reviews as this is a great little steamer and I've had it for years. I could only find it online and purchased one for both my Mother and my Aunt. The trick is using distilled water (to prevent buildup) and not overfilling. I don't ever fill it even to the maximum level. That's when you have spilling and spurting onto your clothes. If you expect it to work like an iron, it won't. And it works better on some materials than others. But if you're looking for a great way to freshen clothes and cut back on dry cleaning bills, this is it! I don't iron, so I use this for everything except my cotton work shirts, which I have dry cleaned.

(More customer reviews)I decided to buy a steamer after using a Jiffy Steamer at my mom's house. I was a bit hesitant about how well it would compare since the steam fast product is signicantly less expensive than the comparable Jiffy Steamer product. The Good Housekeeping endorsement of this product sealed the deal. I have been thrilled by how well it works. My clothes look great after steaming them! It is great for replacing ironing clothes, and you can use it to remove wrinkles on things that I would *never* try ironing - like wool sweaters, suit jackets, draperies/sheers, knit tops. The other big advantage for me personally is that all I have to do is to plug it in to use it - no more dragging out the ironing board. The mfr does recommend the use of distilled or deionized water to prolong the life/minimize descaling maintenance. A gallon of water will probably fill the tank twice - which translates into about 8 hours of use. Do shop around. Cost varies significantly from place to place. UPDATE: Dec 9 2006. Still have my steamer, still love it! No problems with it whatsoever.
