(More customer reviews)We moved to a three-story townhouse, and it quickly became clear that my loud, clumsy old Hoover upright was not going to work out in our new home. I nearly went deaf trying to vacuum the stairs, and trying to keep an upright balanced on the steps was an exercise in futility.
So I was convinced that a canister vac was the way to go. This is the second one I tried and the one I decided to keep.
Suction is very good. I'm sure it could be stronger, but given the light weight and the quiet operation, I'm very happy with its ability to clean. In a tradeoff between outright suction and weight, I'm happy to err in favor of a lighter unit, especially with three stories to clean.
The power brush attachment is great on low-to-medium height pile and works better than I'd expected on hardwood floors. A switch to turn the brushroll on and off is right on the handle, which is a must in my book. Crevice, upholstery, and dusting brush attachments are included and fit nicely onboard. They're useful, if a little small.
On the downside, the other reviewers are spot-on with the complaints about the hose length. It could certainly be longer, and though it has a telescoping wand, it's not enough to reach that far overhead.
In addition, I think it would've been more convenient had they put suction strength and on/off controls on the handle, as is the case with the competing Electrolux Oxygen3 that I tried.
I do wish it were priced lower, but after spending many weekends trying out the available alternatives at brick-and-mortar stores, I just couldn't find anything that had the Bosch's virtues with a comparable price. If your priority is having a quiet, compact, and lightweight vacuum with excellent suction and all the essential cleaning tools, it's probably worth the premium.

(More customer reviews)So, I have been looking for a good vacuum for a really long time. We have 2 dogs that constantly shed, so vacuuming is a major chore. I've tried Roombas, Kenmore, Hoover, Bissell, Dyson. All the latest. They all suck.
After shelling out $300 for a Kenmore Progressive that Consumer Reports rated #1, I was incredibly disappointed because it worked like CRAP. It couldn't pick up anything.
Finally I went to a specialty shop. I expected to have to shell out a $1000. Not so. The salesman sold me this little, no frills, Sanitaire for $175 and guaranteed it would work better than any other vacuum I've owned. And he was right. It picks up pet hair with ease. From my very first use, I managed to fill up the bag by 2/3, even after having had the rooms professionally cleaned just 2 months ago, and having used my crap Kenmore Progressive on it. That's how good it picks up.
It really is no frills. It's old fashioned styling. It's light weight. It doesn't have any tubing, there's no light, there are no attachments, and there is no uber-special hepa filter. What you get is a vacuum cleaner that actually vacuums! I'm thrilled.

(More customer reviews)This vac was impressive out of the box. the suction was amazing... for a week. You quickly will discover that his vac takes an enormous amount of TLC. If you have a woman in the house with longish hair, or pets, it will clog up immediately. You have to use your fingers or a tool to pull out the debris EVERY time you vacuum. The filter pad has direct contact with debris, so it need to be replaced or washed every few vacuums. WE VACUUM EVERY DAY.. not carpet.. hard wood floors.. and this vac lasted a month before it completely died, despite all our extra care of unclogging, etc.
I'm not sure what it is supposed to vacuum up. It can't handle hair.. it chokes on anything bigger than a cheerio.
Miserable, awful product. Went into the garbage today.
I suspect it has probably already been discontinued.
PLEASE don't waste your money.
