It helps prevent fatigue and cramping I had previously experienced while using those craft knives with cylindrical handles. The lid enclosure for the blade stays closed instead of slipping off. Because of the ease of use, I find myself using it for household purposes other than crafting. I am very pleased with my new Softgrip Craft Knife. I wish all my tools had this type handle.
