(More customer reviews)For years I have had a small laundry basket full of things that needed only minor mending: sewing a button on a favorite shirt, closing the ripped seam in my son's stuffed animal, repairing the torn hem of my daughter's dress... A couple dozen items accumulated. I had wanted to put things in a basket next to my favorite chair in the living room and mend a few at a time while my kids were doing homework. Every time I pulled my sewing box out to accomplish some of it, I got extremely frustrated and gave up. I had an old sewing box where the little plastic "shelf" on top had collapsed into the box and everything was jumbled up inside. I'd dig it all out only to discover that I couldn't find the right sized needle, the bag of buttons was dumped in the bottom so I couldn't find the right one, the object I needed was in some other box somewhere because there was no room left in my old box, or some other show stopper that required a thorough search and a lot more effort.
Upon buying this item, I spent over an hour filling it up with everything just as I wanted it. I had a couple of small bobbin boxes full of small amounts of different colored threads that fit right inside the box too. The first time I sat down with this at my side to get some mending done I got through 5 things in the half hour my kids were doing homework. They were so excited to have their things back - some of them had been in my mending basket for years! I can't stress how much I love this box. It has made small sewing projects so, so easy. There's even room for that tube of superglue I need from time to time and can never find.
After my son saw how much I loved the box, he insisted we get one for my mother for Christmas. She has expressed the same delight in using it. It has made both our lives a little easier.
